I love the packaging on this Samyang seafood party ramen and had really high hopes for the taste. Seafood features a lot in Korean stews and soups with classic dishes like Maeuntang (spicy fish soup and Jjamppong (seafood noodle stew) so I was excited for a flavoursome seafood broth with these.
These Samyang seafood party noodles were good, but not brilliant. That surprised me as I enjoyed the Samyang instant ramen I tried recently, and know that they make some really great instant noodles including the popular spicy buldak range. Anyway, let’s get down to it. As I’ve found with other instant ramen, the instructions said 350ml of water which I personally feel is too much. If you like a really soupy noodle, that’s fine but for me, I would have preferred less soup with a more intense seafood flavour. Nexy time, if there is one, I’ll probably go with 250-300ml and see how that changes the flavour. These also aren’t too spicy so if you like heat, perhaps look elsewhere.
Slurpable noodles
The noodles themselves were nice and firm – good for slurping. And the flakes included small pieces of dried prawn which rehydrated and added a nice chewy element to the bowl. I’d have liked a few more. I think you can see one floating in the bottom corner on the below picture! Whilst the flakes were good, the powder not so much. I have a theory that ramen which include a wet flavour packet tend to be tastier than those with a powder. That’s one to keep working on as I move through my Noodle Reviewooodle journey.

Buy again? No. There was nothing wrong with these, I just think there are better seafood flavoured instant ramens out there. So, if you’re contemplating buying some, don’t get these, hunt out the Jin jjambbong from Ottogi instead! That’s where the true seafood party’s at!
