Chicken roasted with Flava-It Marinade

I don’t do product reviews that often but this one piqued my interest because the flavour range so when I was asked if I wanted to try some of the Flava-It marinades range I said yes! The beauty of these Flava-It marinades (and no idea how they do it) is that they only need 10 mins to infuse their flavour. Of course the longer you leave it, the more intense but the fact that they work so fast means these are a great option for mid-week meals.

We started with the Buffalo Flava-It marinade. Bang on trend with the current American BBQ craze (which we are wholeheartedly embracing!). The buffalo flavour (vinegar based hot pepper marinade) is traditionally applied to chicken wings. We had some thighs – close enough! The colour was a little alarming but the packet does say that it’s all natural flavours and colourings, no nasties! The smell was intense too and the powder immediately began soaking into the chicken.

Because we are (not so) secret fatties, I whipped up a quick blue cheese dressing to have alongside the chicken. Its really easy to make – just mix 45g blue cheese with 75ml buttermilk, 75ml creme fraiche or soured cream, 1/2 a garlic clove, a small drizzle of cider vinegar and freshly ground black pepper. This is a trial and error recipe so don’t hold me to it if it doesn’t come out exact!

We served the chicken with coleslaw, roasted baby new potatoes and peppers and a green salad. The crispy skin was full of flavour and really tasty. We didn’t feel that the marinade had fully soaked into the chicken below but the flavour was still really impressive given the short time it marinaded. Next on the list to try is their Ghost Chilli marinade – it’s going to be super spicy I’m sure! I’m also looking forward to trying the Louisiana BBQ too. I’m thinking pork chops with a difference!
