This is my local pub! – exactly half way between mine and my best friends house. Perfect for midweek meets and weekend drunken nights out. I’ve even had a few first dates there (so far, no good!)
The White Hart in Loughborough ticks all the pub boxes – lovely atmosphere, candles on every table, live music at the weekends and local beers on tap. It’s the type of place you can go with your parents, friends or partner. SO – I was very excited when they recently started doing food.
Having eaten there 3 or 4 times now, I realised it was time I got it up on the blog. Their menu is short and simple with sandwiches, salads and a quirky touch – Spanish style raciones. Raciones are basically big tapas portions and perfect for more than a snack, less than a full meal. Three or four will feed two of you for lunch easily.
They have a nice selection of raciones to choose from and I’ve pretty much tried them all now. You can get 3 for £12 or £5 each. Top recommendations are the prawns, the halloumi and asparagus. The salt and pepper squid is also fab and the chilli is full of peppery heat, perfect with a hunk of bread.
