There’s something alluring about gift hampers through the post full of special treats – biscuits and nibbles just that little bit posher than you could justify buying for yourself. And you know how much I love my snacks. Luxurious treats for a lazy afternoon, an evening in with a DVD or a picnic! Love them.

The British Hamper Company create luxury hampers filled with food and drink items from artisanal British producers. Themes are plentiful – from a day at the races to Halloween, afternoon tea and of course Christmas. Content-wise, there is lots to choose from too; wine, chocolate, savoury items and sweets. I was sent one of their tuck box hampers full of snacks to review, here’s what I thought of it.

The British Hamper Company hampers are available in traditional wicker but also this gorgeous London patterned box. It’s just so pretty and really well made. Personally, I prefer it to a wicker basket as it feels very modern. Traditional isn’t always the way to go! I’ll be keeping it long after we’ve munched our way through its contents.

So, whats in the hamper?

  • Fentimans – Traditional Curiosity Cola & Victorian Lemonade
  • Hobbs and Silverthorne – Almond Butter Crunch
  • Teoni’s Cookies – All Butter Shortbread
  • Perry Court Farm – Sweet Apple Crisps
  • Beehive – Nougat
  • The Natural Candy Shop – Jelly Beans
  • Yorkshire Crisps – Henderson’s Yorkshire Sauce Flavour
  • Tregroes – Toffee Waffles

As someone who went to Sheffield University, I was truly delighted to see the Henderson’s Relish crisps – anyone from Yorkshire will feel the same. Henderson’s Relish or ‘Hendo’s’ is synonymous with the city and I used to walk past their building on my way into town!  The crisps themselves were delicious, really meaty and thick cut just how they should be.

Sadly, living with someone who has a big sweet tooth means that I did;t get to try as many of the jelly beans or as much of the almond butter crunch as I’d have liked. Both were delicious and actually, this is the first time I’d tried almond crunch!  We’re saving the waffles to have with coffee this weekend but the Fentimans has long gone, such fun and traditional flavours, they remind me of being little.
