Earlier this week I was lucky enough to go for dinner pre-opening at Nosh & Quaff, the brand new offering from Aktar Islam and Jabba Khan (the super talented and very lovely masterminds behind Lasan, Fiesta Del Asado & Raja Monkey). On trendy Colmore Row in the centre of Birmingham, this place is going to be crazy busy when they open next week!

Officially opening on 31st July, Nosh & Quaff is a lobster and beer restaurant and I already know it’ll be a real hit! With great beers on tap and a mouth-watering menu, this place is spread over two floors in a beautiful old bank. The decor is industrial but stylish – and most importantly, they have the most comfortable chairs, make dining a leisurely experience, unlike some of the terrible BBQ chains out there with their cheap hard chairs! When you’re over 30, this kind of thing matters.

The menu is short and to the point – this is a burger and lobster restaurant so on the whole, that’s what you can have. You’ll also find hot dogs, ribs and wings there – and everything (as you’d expect) is hand-made on site from fresh, organic ingredients. The lobster is fresh and succulent with a slight chargrill flavour,  and a complete bargain at £20. The butter chive sauce accompanying it didn’t overpower the flavour either – perfectly balanced.

The burger came pink and peppery. Delicious. The wings were juicy and full of flavour – I just love that southern style hot sauce. The beef ribs are as big as your face and don’t be ashamed to get food all over your face. This place is casual but do not mistake it for fast food. The food is sky high good. Just served in a way designed to be fun to both eat and drink in. Don that apron and get stuck in.

We also enjoyed a range of sides – the mac and cheese came straight down from heaven and the blooming onion was just perfect for sticking in the middle of the table and sharing with friends. For now, though, I’ll leave you to enjoy the food porn below. The pictures can do the talking.

Suffice to say, you need to get here. You need to eat this. Now.

That burger… oh wow!! So good we ordered another one before pudding. My friend Ahmed (UK Burger Battle king) was super impressed. Luckily the rest of us managed a bite too!

I’m pretty sure you’ll need to book ahead for dinner at Nosh & Quaff so get those reservations in and look forward to a fun-filled and tasty evening. If you have time too, the financial district around Colmore Row is packed with cool bars so get your drinking head on!

  1. What pain relief! Similar to lots of my other reviewers, We kept my air following "Dead Mankind's Chest" intending installing 3 "Pirates with the Carribbean: On Globe's End" would not become still left inside upper body along with Davy Jones' grosse, slimy conquering heart. 3 could have removed inside dumper while using the common efficiency connected with Priates a pair of, although fortunately "At Globe's End" will get a fantastic status such as the initial Pirates' demonstration "The Bane with the Black Pearl".
