I was recently asked if I wanted to review a Degustabox. I’ll be honest, I’d not really heard of them but as the concept really appealed to me, I thought I’d give it a go.

This food box delivery service is different from those others you’ve probably heard of or tried. So, rather than recipes and ingredients to cook meals from (like Gousto or Hello Fresh), this is a surprise box of goodies. Expect new up and coming brands along with some old favourites covering everything from drinks and savouries to sweeties.

I received the September box and it was mostly sweet, snacky things although if you look on the Degustabox website, you’ll see that the contents do vary – for example in the August box there was pasta and a tomato cooking sauce.  As well as well known brands my box contained some new products and even things I’d never seen before. (e.g. the mocha flavoured ‘energy bites’).

So – what was actually in my box?

  • Portlebay popcorn x flavours
  • TG Green Tea x 2 flavours
  • The Good Cider of San Sebastian
  • Up & Go breakfast drinks x 2 flavours
  • Reeces peanut butter cups
  • Maynards red and black wine gums
  • Bassetts jelly babies
  • Complete energy bites
  • Mallow & Marsh marshmallows
Unfortunately there were a couple of things which appear on the website for September bit were not in the box – thats a shame as they were savoury and would have balanced all the sweet out nicely.

What did I think?

It was fun to receive a surprise box and I enjoyed the experience of unwrapping it and discovering the products but I was disappointed to see items that I already know and that are commonly available. My review is based on just one month though and as the contents change every time, I’m sure overall, this is something I’d enjoy on a regular basis.

For me, the best elements in the box were those I could drink! The Sweet Sally iced tea was delicious as was the  TG Green Tea. The Up & Go ‘breakfast’ drinks were a little sweet for my taste but perfect for a very early Sunday road trip!

Degustbox cost £12.99 a month. I’m pretty sure that if you were to buy all the items yourself, it’d cost a lot more than that. So… If you fancy trying a Degustabox for yourself, you can get £6.00 off (almost half price!) with special code BLDEG15. Give it a try and let me know what you get in your box!

*I was sent the Degustabox to review but did not receive payment for this post. My opinions are all my own as always*
