JML artifical spicy beef noodle cup

JML spicy beef noodle pot

Its time for yet another noodle cup review and we’re still going strong with the JML range, which really are perfect for office lunches (or at home when all those bloody teams meetings run into your lunch break leaving no time to make anything… ugh) and a snip at £1.20. That’s way cheaper than even a supermarket lunch time meal deal and actually, much tastier.

Today it’s the turn of the artificial spicy beef noodle cup. As you’ll know if you’ve been keeping an eye on my Noodle Reviewoodle section, we’ve worked our way through a fair chunk of the JML noodle cup range now. The word ‘artificial’ isn’t great here and could seem off-putting. But hear me out. I think it’s just a bad translation rather than a selling feature. What it actually means is that these noodles are vegetarian as they don’t contain any real meat. It’s always best to check because artificial meat flavouring doesn’t automatically mean vegetarian but these do appear to be, from the ingredients list.

Thoughts on this noodle cup:

This was one of the better noodle cups I’ve tried and I will definitely be getting it again. It has a tasty, rich broth and that much desired spicy kick which was missing from the JML pork stew noodle cup. The spice heat had a numbing quality to it which wasn’t surprising when I saw that the ingredients list features Szechuan pepper which I love. I wouldn’t recommend eating this when wearing white or with an afternoon of face to face meetings but otherwise, knock yourself out!

Uh oh… no spice!

Both Dave & I had one of these and it’s a bloody good job because one was missing the all important spice seasoning pack! I mean, the beefy flabvor was still nice and it was interesting to try it without the heat but I prefer it with!

Buy again? Yes

This JML artificial spicy beef noodle cup was from 186 Oriental on Park Street in Bristol but I’ve seen them online in plenty of places too. We paid £1.20 in July 2019 but no doubt the price has gone up since! For more instant noodle reviews, head to my Noodle Reviewooodle page!
