Ok, another bowl of instant ramen, another noodle reviewooodle post for you! Today we’re talking about Japanese Curry Demae Ramen. Oh, this is a good one. A very good one!
I tend to opt for the spicier noodles, like my fave Shin Ramyun and these Champong spicy noodles but, I do love Japanese curry. We make Katsu fairly regularly at home, using the S&B curry blocks (and this recipe) for a quick cheat to a delicious meal. But, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Japanese Curry flavour noodles before. Or, until now, they’ve flown under my radar.
Anyway, here we go. I finally got round to it and I’m very pleased I did.
Scores on the doors
These Japanese curry demae ramen noodles are delicious! I didn’t jazz them up at all on this first tasting and I stuck to the cooking instructions. Demae Ramen is always a solid choice for texture and ease of cooking and they have a huge range of flavours to choose from.
- Flavour – 8/10
- Texture – 8/10
- Ease of making – 9/10
TOTAL: 25/30
Buy again? Yes! Definitely yes!
Top tip for next time
Just after starting my noodles, I was interrupted by Mini Bites (because his hunger is more important than mine, apparently). By the time I sat down to eat, the noodles had soaked up a lot of the curry broth, making it a drier bowl of noodles. It was good. I enjoyed the thicker mouth feel and will make them less time with less water. I mean, the broth is curry flavoured but not curry consistency. So, add less water and these move into my list of faves for regular repeat consumption.
