Saucy Fish Co fishcakes

As you may well know if you read my blog frequently, I’ve decided to eat a pescatarian diet for January. I’m a lucky lady as after reading my first post on the topic, the Saucy Fish Co got in touch and offered to send me some of their products to try as part of my journey.

I do buy Saucy Fish Co stuff but I’ll be honest, usually when it’s reduced. Fish can be pricey and that’s maybe one of the reasons that in the past, I’ve tended to eat less of it. So far we’ve tried two products – the salmon fishcakes with hollandaise sauce centres and the lemon and dill roasted salmon fillets – and honestly, they were both delicious.

The fishcakes, despite not looking quite as fabulous in real life as on the box, were full of fish and really tasty. The saucy centre was a nice contrast to the texture of fish and mashed potato but for me, I needed a touch more seasoning on them. I served them with a salad, buttered new potatoes and my fave, corn on the cob slathered in butter, rock salt and black pepper.

The lemon and dill salmon fillets came ready to eat and so, I flaked them into a salad for packed lunches. A great move, both Dave and I agreed that the fish was excellent, so tasty and perfectly cooked. The roasted edges were packed with flavour. We didn’t actually use the little sachet of lemon and dill mayonnaise that came with them, so I’ll save that for another time.

Next up – we have sea bream with a sunblush tomato dressing and cook in the bag smoked haddock with vintage cheddar and chive sauce. It’ll be interesting to see how the haddock and cheese sauce stands up against my mums, which quite frankly, is perfection!

Priced usually at around the £4.50 mark, I guess some people may find this an expensive thing to put in the trolley. On reflection though, I think Saucy Fish Co, and others on the market such as the new Young’s Funky Fish Kitchen offer us a chance to cook different types of fish at home in an easy way. Their foil bag options are so simple and the sauce combos are all delicious. For me, I am impressed and will definitely continue to use their products.

Head over to their online shop and with code SAUCYSHOP25, you can get a cheeky 25% discount AND they’ll deliver to your door. Fishy Goodness eh?

Have you eaten Saucy Fish Co before? What do you think? Which is your favourite?
