Oh its a glamorous life, or it was for one evening last week, as I headed over to the launch party of the new Fuzzy Duck Pub & Kitchen in Nuneaton. There were several food bloggers going, some of them already good friends so with the cocktails and conversation flowing, I knew it’d be a fun night.
We arrived to a buzzy atmosphere in quite a blingy bar which then opens out into an airy and light eating area. To start we enjoyed some great cocktails – vodka based and somewhere between a cosmo and a pimms. Delicious.
As we sat down, we were told that we wouldn’t be eating from the new menu as there were teething problems in the kitchen and the chef wasn’t able to run the full menu. This was a real shame as I was looking forward to trying some of the dishes – which are mainly classic pub grub items like pizza, burgers, pies and sharing platters. See the menu here. Instead we were treated to a range of canapés including cod and chorizo balls, mozzarella and sun dried tomato bruschetta, chicken skewers and duck with garlic mash.
Part way through the evening, the chef came out to speak to us and told us about how he’s sourced alot of his ingredients locally – using the local butchers and farmers for his meat and vegetables. He told us the menu will change frequently to allow him to keep it ultra seasonal and he also talked about there being a focus on duck within the menu. A quirky nod to the name of the pub. I couldn’t see that this was overly apparent on the menu but perhaps it’ll be something they’ll develop over time.

Bloggers doing what they do best!
I had an enjoyable time at the Fuzzy Duck launch but was disappointed we couldn’t try the menu out. The canapés were nice but didn’t really represent what you can get there and so, I can’t give a real view on how good this place is going to be. There’s only one thing for it – I’ll have to go back and try it for real won’t I?! So, until that time, all I can say is that it seems like a nice addition to the Nuneaton food scene which is heavily dominated by Indian restaurants. *The Fuzzy Duck invited me along with other bloggers to their launch event but I was not expected to write a review and as always my opinions are my own*
It was a shame we couldn't try the full menu- I definitely had my eye on the burgers! It was lovely to meet you 🙂 Helen x
Yes it was – I love a good burger too 🙂 It was great to meet you too Helen!
