We were away this weekend, lots of food and lots of drink.. And lots of pennies spent.

Meal planning is so important for two reasons, firstly it helps you not to waste anything as you can plan meals with things on the turn for the start of the week! Secondly it helps with the budget! Sometimes you look in the cupboard and think there’s nothing in but actually, with careful planning, there are often meals to pull together without having to nip to the shops!

Anyway enough preaching, you know I love to meal plan so here’s what we have coming up this week!

Monday
The hubby won’t like it but salad (with beetroot and butternut squash) and grilled chicken breasts

Tuesday
Pan fried fish with rice and steamed veg. Some kind of sauce, maybe just lemon buttery goodness

Wednesday
Oven roasted chorizo style sausages with peppers, onions and potatoes

Thursday
Out with parents for curry!

Friday
Strirfried pork (mince) with garlic, ginger and chilli. With noodles.

Saturday
Homemade pizzas – we had some nice chorizo slices saved but we ate them already so looking in the cupboards, we’re going for tuna, olives and capers.

Sunday
Family round for roast dinner – meat to be decided as I’ll need to shop for this one!

Meal Planning Monday

As usual, I’m joining in with Mrs M’s Meal Planning Monday link up. You can find lots of ideas and inspiration there so go and check it out!

Also, here are a couple of my old Meal Planning Monday entries here and here.

What are you planning this week? Anything special or just using up leftovers and trying to save money? Let me know!

  1. just curious:

1 – do you do your shopping for a whole week?
2 – do you stick strictly to your menus or do you sort of wing it some days or make last minute changes?

  2. Hello! – yes I do my shopping for the whole week – in fact, usually I'll go to Aldi and stock up on dried/tinned goods just once a month and then do a big market shop for veg and fresh once or twice a month.

I try to stick to the menu, especially when it means taking something out the freezer the night before (eg chicken breasts) although sometimes we do have a last minute switch!
