I’ve got some very exciting things coming up during my last few weeks in Leicester and here’s one of them. I’ll be on the judging panel for the next UK Burger Battle. Haven’t heard of it before? UK Burger Battle is about one thing – the mighty burger.

This is a party and a great night out. The concept is simple –  two teams, two burgers, a whole lotta people judging and then one winner.  Kicking off a national tour, the Leicester battle is in the diary for Friday 11 March and puts Gone Burger against Leicester new boys The Beefer. Remember Rib Nights? It’s the same people behind this so I know it’ll be good.

For The Beefer, who hit the street food scene in August 2015, this is home turf with all of their ingredients sourced locally from Leicestershire and burgers made with real love. London’s Gone Burger return to UK Burger Battle following their victory at the Birmingham event in 2015.
This is a ticketed event and it usually sells out fast so get on it! Early Bird tickets for the Battle are priced at £20 and include entry, two burgers (each!) and a welcome drink. Plus, if you buy 5 you’ll get one free. UK Burger Battle is a full night out too with Sailor Jerry on hand with all the best rum cocktails and a live DJ spinning the decks for a post-burger boogie. Fancy it? Buy your tickets here

What’s better than buying tickets to UK Burger Battle? Winning them of course!

You’ve got one week to get your entries in… and I’d love to hear what your ultimate burger is. For me, it’s got to be a classic beef patty topped with blue cheese and bacon. Delish!

  1. my boyfriend is a major burger lover. he loves a triple decker cheese burger. the best burger i ever had was at this little restaurant near us it was beef burger, beef brisket, pulled beef and cheese…scrummy

  2. Start with amazing beef, hand ground, probably about 30-40% fat for me – grilled with a good crust on the outside, but medium rare, or preferably rare inside. Top with plenty of cheese, Monterey Jack is always good, avocado, crispy smoked bacon, chunks of grilled, crisp chorizo, caramelized onions, peashoots and lambs lettuce, aioli on top and homemade spicy ketchup beneath and a bun that can take it all – I guess this is why brioche tends to win out here, but I'm still on the hunt for the perfect bun!

  3. Where I'm from, in the 90s, there was a little burger bar called Nicks. No one has ever done a burger better than Nicks. We'd go and win enough on the peir to treat ourselves to one, and my ultimate would be the quarter pounder with diced onions, blue cheese and crispy salad. Ohhhhh how I want one right NOW!!!! 😛
