So this year, I’ll be attending Camp Bestival as an official blogger. It’s the first time I’ve done anything like this with the blog and I’m really excited. Excited because I’ll be there mainly as an official food blogger (YESSSS!). I was drawn in by the huge array of food options there this year and the fact that the organisers have put a huge focus on amazing pop up festival food.

Actually, I have a huge confession to make, I didn’t quite realised how family-oriented this festival is until after I’d agreed to go as an official blogger. It’s got to have been at least 4 years since either Dave or I were last at a music festival and we’ve never been to one together, plus Camp Bestival is a little different to those of our youth.

After chatting to the other bloggers, (most of whom have children) and looking at pictures from previous years, we’ve decided this is still a festival for us, a young couple with no children.

Three reasons why we’re looking forward to Camp Bestival:

1) We are getting a bit old

In my mind, once you’re firmly established as a ’30-something’ you don’t really want to spend multiple nights in a tent sandwiched like a sardine with a million other tents full of noisy, alcohol infused teens. As far as the entertainment goes, I’m not saying there isn’t still something in me which wants to be knee-deep in mud and precariously balanced on the shoulders of a tall man but really, we’ve both done that (as shown with the rather questionable montage below!!) and now we’re a little older we’d quite like a slighter more relaxed festival experience. And… at the end of the night, a chance to get some sleep.

2) The Food

Legitimately, the food offering at Camp B sounds awesome, a definitely enhancement on the usual line up of falafel, donuts and burger trucks. In fact, it was the food offering which first pulled me in. And it’s not just me who thinks so – Square Meal have just featured it in a recent piece on the best music festivals this summer for foodies.

There is so much more on offer than just ‘festival’ street food (although, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE street food). There are going to be pop up supper clubs, food demos, a local farmers market and Bestivale (their own ales brewed especially). Plus, the street food all looks incredible, thanks to The Feast Collective which is headed up by the incredible young chef Luke Thomas. Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen and award winning Seadog have both been on my hit list for some time!

Can you tell I’m already a little bit excited about all of this?

3) The Location

Yes, you go to a festival for the music, the atmosphere and all the rest of it. But Lulworth Castle in Dorset is a great location. The castle nestled on the hill top is so picturesque and just looking at the photos from previous years, I know it’s going to feel magical.

Plus, if we feel like we want to wander out of the festival for an afternoon, we can, with the sea on our doorstep, the castle behind us and some great coastal hikes near by.

So there you have it, my there reasons why we’re so excited to be heading to Camp Bestival this summer! Fancy it for yourself? Camp Bestival is happening on the 28-31 July at Lulworth Castle in Dorset. From what I can see, there is plenty to enjoy whatever your age or group type!
