*ARCHIVE POST FROM 2014*

This is a bit late this year and its not like me to be so behind. I know many of you are probably super organised and already have your Christmas shopping done and dusted but due to big changes in my life of late, I’ve not even started mine! EEEEK!

So… for those of you who are as disorganised as me, here are my top picks for foodie festive gifts this year. If nothing here tickles your fancy, why not take a peek back at my top picks of years gone by too?

Traditional Sweets

Ashby Treats is a traditional shop in the market town of Ashby De la Zouch (not too far from me) recently sent me this gorgeously old fashioned advent calendar – made up of individually bagged sweets for each day of December. I can’t wait to start eating them. Sugar before breakfast = winner!

Ashby Treats have some gorgeous gift ideas too so whether you’re local and can visit the shop or are further out and need to order online, they are well worth a look. I particularly like their build your own hamper selections (various prices starting from £3.50) perfect for stocking fillers. They also stock sweets which are vegetarian, gluten free, diabetic friendly and more so no one is left out.

Pasta Saucepan

OK call me a geek but since I’ve been staying at my mums, I’ve discovered the joys of the pasta pan – I can’t believe I never had one! It’s so easy. This might be a random gift but I’m sure the spaghetti lover in your life will thank you for it – and seeing as its Christmas, push the boat out and get them a stainless steel one from John Lewis why don’t you? £65 of long lasting heaven.

Mug Brownie Kits

Baked In is a new brand which I’m very excited about and their mug brownie kits are a perfect stocking filler idea. These guys have taken the age old wonder of the 2 minute mug cake (see mine here) and packaged it into a sweet box of 4 servings. Look out for them at the BBC Good Food Show next week on stand F56 or order online. And whilst you’re there, check out all the other baking kits they do. Perfect for young bakers.

Camembert Pots

I’m on a bit of a cheese train at the moment with a growing addiction for baked Camembert so this one has appeared because secretly, I’m hoping my family and friends will read it and buy me one. I always bake my Camembert in its wooden case but how gorgeous and traditional are these pots for presentation? This one from John Lewis is just lovely and not too pricey at under £20.

Blow the budget!!

Well I just saw this and HAD to put it in.. you never know, there may be some millionaires out there who like to splash the cash at Christmas. How about this from Great British Chefs? At £3,000 its a snip – a day in the kitchen at Marcus Wareing’s The Berkeley followed by their 5 course tasting menu in the evening. Wowwwwwwzers…  (and as we know from Masterchef, he’s secretly really quite nice…)!
So there you have it – this years Gingey pick of foodie festive treats. Let me know what else you recommend as I’m always on the eye out for the next good thing!

Over and out.
